The Freedom of Information Cave Society

Ever wanted to explore a real cave? Without being guided around like a dog on a leash by a tour guide that stops every 30 feet to explain the history of that last stalag-thing? Where you can go wherever you want instead of only where the tour guide takes you?

The mission of the FICS is to provide the general public with cave locations and descriptions. The Society maintains files of many locations and descriptions of caves in all cave regions of the U. S. If you want to know where the caves are in your region, which caves are interesting, or where a specific cave is located, send a brief message to [email protected]. This information cannot be posted on the web, but you will be sent locations and brief descriptions of all caves you requested that are included in the files of the FICS.

Most of the information in our files locates and describes caves in the east central United States. However, we do posess information for other cave areas. If a cave is well-known, or if it has been known for a while, there is more chance it is on file than if it is newly discovered or virtually unknown.

Most spelunkers will never tell you where all the caves are, but we believe this information should be public knowledge. We will give cave locations and descriptions to anyone who will not vandalize the caves. What you do with this information, on the other hand, is not our business. Please remember that some caves are on private property, and some are gated.

The Wild Cave Society is brand new, and at this time we have limited access to e-mail. If you recieve no response, please be patient. We will respond to all messages ASAP, but it may be several weeks before we can answer all requests.

This service provided free of charge to further the Public Knowledge of Cave Locations.
